How to Setup Roku Controls in Eyeworld

The Roku Remote page that has been added to Eyeworld as of version 5.43 allows you to control an official Roku streaming device that is connected to your Wifi network. TVs with Roku built into them may also work but it's not 100% guaranteed.
Download the latest version of Eyeworld here.

1) The first setting you need to change is the Network Permissions settings in your Roku TV settings. Starting from the Roku Home page on your TV, navigate to Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Control by mobile apps > Network access, and set Network access to Permissive.

2) In Eyeworld, navigate to the Roku Remote page which you can find in the Environmental Control page. Once you're in the Roku Remote page click the blue Settings button at the top then the Edit IP Address button.

3) In order to control your Roku over your Wifi network you will need to enter in your Roku's IP address which you can find in your Roku TV's Settings > Network > About. If your Roku is connected to your Wifi you should see a section in the About page that has your IP address and usually it will be a string of numbers starting with "192.168."

4) Enter that IP into the textbox and click Test Connection. DON'T click on anything and wait for the pop up message to disappear on its own, if the IP address is correct you will see a message pop up saying "Success". Now you can hit the Save IP Address button to save it.

5) Once the IP address test is successful and the network settings in step 1 are applied, the Roku Control buttons should work. you can give them a quick test by clicking around with the arrow buttons and home button and the Roku TV should reflect those button presses. Some additional steps you can also setup are power button controls and volume button controls.

(You can also find these steps in the "HDMI-CEC Help" button of the settings page)
6a) For setting up the ability to power the Roku TV on or off, follow the steps below.
1. Plug the Roku device into a port labeled "HDMI-CEC", "HDMI ARC", or similar.

2. In your TV's settings, find the section for HDMI Settings, Input Settings, or External Device Manager, and look for an option like CEC, Anynet+ (Samsung), Simplink (LG), EasyLink (Philips) or BRAVIA Sync (Sony). Make sure it is supported and enabled. Check your TV's user manual or call the manufacturer for assistance if unsure.

3. On your Roku, go to Settings > Remotes & Devices > Remotes. Select your remote and find the "Set up remote for TV control" settings. Select CEC setup.

4. Test the power button on your Roku remote and confirm it can power your TV on/off before attempting to use the Roku power controls in Eyeworld.

(You can also find these steps in the "IR Volume Help" button of the settings page)
6b) For setting up the ability to control the TV's volume, follow the steps below.
The volume functions for televisions cannot be controlled through WiFi, and require a separate device that transmits infrared signals directly to your TV. The Eyegaze Edge can be used with a UIRT to accomplish this on certain TV models.

1. If you're unsure what a UIRT is and to find out whether your TV remote is compatible, go to helpdesk.eyegaze.com and search for "UIRT". Be sure to use your original TV remote and not the Roku remote for testing and programming.

2. Setup your UIRT and program the volume up, down, and mute buttons in the TV category using your TV remote. If you purchased a UIRT with your Eyegaze Edge initially, you can skip to the section called "How to setup your UIRT on Mind Express 5" in the UIRT helpdesk article.

3. Position your UIRT so it has direct line of sight to your TV, then try activating the volume buttons on the Roku Remote page.
